FCC Approves WiMAX Card
FCC finally approved of Clearwire's WiMAX card. The approval by the FCC marks the first real big step towards the adoption of a wireless broadband WiMAX. Previously, WiMAX was limited to nomadic and fixed application, but with the introduction of the laptop card, customers can truly experience the benefits of WiMAX as they roam freely with their new service.
Clearwire, a company based out of Kirkland Washington will be releasing the cards (manufactured by Motorola) in the second half of this year to all its customers. According to news, the WiMAX card will be Windows XP and Vista compatible. With the addition of true mobile service, the company can attract many new customers and increase its customer base. This would mean that Clearwire would eventually be offered in larger more metropolitan cities. Today, Clearwire is only available in 11 states throughout the country.
