Stay Connected during Vacations in Egypt

Egyptian resorts to get WiMAX

Egypt is famous for its ancient Pyramids. Sharm el Sheikh, a famous tourist destination in Egypt located along the Red Sea Coast is expected to get WiMAX connectivity. So, if you were planning for a trip to Egypt and worried about broadband wireless Internet then your worries should be over by now. I hope the price of Wireless Broadband Internet does not resemble that of resorts, which are three times higher than normal. Two local ISPs namely EgyNet and TE Data have been selected to develop this provisional WiMAX network.

Egyptian government is trying to provide Internet connectivity in the areas where large number of tourists gathers. Sharm el Sheikh is at the southern tip of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula which has Egypt's most expensive resorts. Initially started in July 2006 and funded by USAID, the project is called "While in Egypt Stay Connected".

More licenses are expected to be issued before June 2007.
