WiMAX in Japan

Canadian Nortel will be teaming up with Japanese Toshiba to manufacture base stations for Japanese and global markets. According to news, the base stations will be based on Nortel's' broadband wireless technology and Toshiba's amplifier and miniaturization technology.

This collaboration will result in one of the smallest and most efficient base stations in the world. Thanks to Toshiba's miniaturization technology, these new base station will be extremely small and efficient in comparison to what's available in the market today. These base stations would be perfect for cities that are highly congested (NY, Seoul, Tokyo, Bombay etc) and who have very little space making it an ideal WiMAX solution.
