Xohm soft launch of WiMAX services

Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC will be the first cities for the soft launch

New Page 1

Just heard from a trusted source at Sprint that the Xohm soft launch will be deployed in multiple stages over the next few months. The stage one soft launch initiates later this month with employees in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC; stage two soft launch will be broadened during the first quarter to include partners and friendly customers.

The network will continue to be optimized for the customer network experience with preparations for start of commercial service in the second quarter. Beta users will gain experience with network access options and also the Xohm portal and various applications.

XOHM impending launch

XOHM will be an important event as it will be the first “big-bang” launch of WiMAX, one of the kind which gave birth to our universe. So far WiMAX has been afflicted by the Volumes syndrome. Low usage, low volumes and high prices of CPEs keeping mass less interested. XOHM represents the first countrywide launch of mobile WIMAX with the target of all mobile devices. This is sure to break the vicious volumes cycle for WiMAX and lead to growth worldwide.

It is great that Sprint followed through with the launch. I look forward to seeing the reaction people have to the broadband wireless access. I hope the technology they have chosen is ready for commercial use. Reaction to issues in a timely manner will be very important.
