Le-Ru Telecom Selects Airspan 3.65 GHz System for US Deployment in Missouri
Airspan Networks Inc. announced that Le-Ru Telecom of Missouri has chosen Airspan to supply HiperMAX base stations and related CPEs in the 3.65 GHz band in the U.S.
Airspan will supply equipment through its U.S. channel partner, Stutler Technologies. This announcement follows the recent FCC approval for Airspan's HiperMAX base station in the 3.65 GHz band in the United States, the first MIMO-enabled WiMAX solution to receive such certification. Certification on Airspan's CPE products for the 3.65 GHz is still pending.
Le-Ru Telecom offers telephone services and various Internet-related services as well as Digital Video Service in the rural Missouri region. Le-Ru Telecom will use Airspan's 3.65 GHz WiMAX solution to provide these services to its wireless customer base.
The 3.65 GHz was recently made available by the US regulatory agency, FCC, for broadband wireless systems. While not officially sanctioned by the WiMAX Forum for industry certification and vendor interoperability, systems derived from WiMAX 3.5 GHz point-to-multipoint platforms (the most popular band for WiMAX Forum Certified systems today) are starting to emerge in this new US allocation. The 3.65 GHz band is considered a growth opportunity for wireless service providers and organizations seeking relatively clean spectrum. My WiMAX.com colleague, Tim Sanders, just wrote about the 3.65 GHz opportunities yesterday.
