Samsung Telecommunications America Showcases Commitment to 4G Wireless Technology at ICES 2010
Las Vegas – Jan. 6, 2010 – Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung
Mobile)1 , the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the U.S.2, is displaying its
commitment to 4G wireless technology, including LTE and Mobile WiMAX, during
various device and networking demonstrations at ICES 2010.
Samsung Mobile is collaborating with Verizon Wireless to help accelerate and
revolutionize consumer electronics to deliver richer, more powerful user
experiences through LTE technology. As part of Verizon Wireless’ LTE Innovation
Center demonstrations, Samsung Mobile is showcasing new and emerging products,
including digital picture frames, Mobile Internet Devices (MID) and digital
cameras, which utilize practical applications through a connected multimedia
ecosystem.
Samsung’s LTE Media Frame is an example of expanding the LTE ecosystem into
other consumer electronic devices such as MIDs, digital cameras, online
galleries, social networking sites and more. . Samsung’s LTE Media frame has a
high-resolution, 10” display with touch screen, multimedia (music, photo, video)
capabilities and an ultra-slim design. Samsung’s digital camera is capable of HD
720p quality video at 30 frames per second and includes a large touch screen LCD
display. Through an LTE-connected multimedia ecosystem, users would simply
upload the pictures and videos over the LTE network to the picture frame or
online social networking sites. Real-time live wireless video streaming from a
mobile device to the LTE media frame would also be possible.
In addition, Samsung Mobile is reinforcing its commitment to 4G technology
through its agreement with MetroPCS to work together to deliver advanced LTE
solutions in devices and services as well as new and innovative network
solutions.
Samsung Mobile is also showcasing the Samsung Mondi™, the most advanced Mobile
WiMAX-enabled handheld device in the U.S, along with WiMAX-enabled USB dongles,
SPH-M8400, SWC-U200, and SPH-H1300, and a WiMAX-enabled PC card, SWC-E100.
The Samsung Mondi, which slides open horizontally to reveal a full QWERTY
keyboard, can harness upload and download speeds that nearly double comparable
devices running on 3G networks while taking advantage of the widespread
connectivity of Mobile WiMAX. The Mondi is also equipped with WiFi, allowing
users to keep strong wireless connections while working outside designated
Mobile WiMAX markets.
The Mondi is packed with multimedia features that offer instant access to
E-mail, Internet, video content and business applications. The device also
supports various services including Fring™, Gypsii™, and Windows Live Messenger.
The Mondi is equipped for GPS Navigation through Route 66, providing
turn-by-turn directions.
Overall, Samsung is a leading provider of 4G network solutions and provides
innovative access solutions in all domains from Macro to Femto.
