Adapt Add's High Speed WiMAX Connectivity to Portfolio

New partnership with Urban Wimax gives Adapt customers physical diversity in their network and the ability to bring buildings online within short lead times

London, 23 October 2007 – Adapt, the independent Virtual Network Operator (VNO), is offering customers WiMAX for the first time bringing even more choice and flexibility to its range of communications services. The services are being delivered via a new partnership with the UK’s leading WiMAX provider, Urban Wimax.

WiMAX will enable Adapt to offer customers secure, robust and flexible business connectivity, with speeds from 2Mb to 10Mb.  It brings users all the benefits of dedicated leased line access without the significant installation costs or disruption to their business.  In addition to being a primary service for businesses which require a high capacity, reliable internet connection, Adapt’s WiMAX can also be used as redundant back-up for businesses that require additional protection in order to retain the integrity of their data. WiMAX is also ideal for users who have short term connectivity needs, for example those in building sites, conference halls, at sporting events, and for broadcast events.

The new WiMAX services will be targeted at customers who have mission critical data connections such as those in finance and media, and those organisations that need to avoid the long installation times associated with terrestrial fibre. Adapt will also be focusing on selling to construction companies, conference halls, and sporting and broadcast events organisers which require temporary and flexible bandwidth as the service can be added or the bandwidth upgraded in a single phone call.

WiMAX can be installed quickly, within 5-10 days or less (subject to survey). Adapt has already provided a 10 Mbps connectivity service within 24 hours to MWB Business Exchange Plc (MWB), the UK’s second largest provider of serviced office space. WiMAX ensured their connectivity following the delay of their traditional fixed line connection.

Peter Knight, CEO of Adapt, comments: “WiMAX is a great addition to our VNO portfolio with a real ability to offer true flexibility and choice.  WiMAX allows us to offer almost instant communications and offer more open contract options.  In addition it can be used to run alongside existing legacy leased lines offering true redundancy.

Sasha Williamson, CEO of Urban Wimax, adds: “I’m delighted to have entered into a partnership with Adapt and look forward to working together to bring the many benefits of WiMAX technology to even more businesses.”
