WiMax plan creates positive ripple effect
This past week's announcement that Clearwire Corp. and Sprint Nextel Corp. entered a joint venture partnership to launch an U. S.-wide WiMax network not only resuscitated interest in the technology, but also created a ripple effect for a number of Canadian small-cap tech companies investors may wish to cast their eyes on.
Industry observers say following the past week's US$3.2-billion deal between Clearwire (CLWR/NASDAQ), Sprint Nextel (S/NYSE) and financial backers Intel Corp. (INTC/NASDAQ), Google Inc. (GOOG/NASDAQ) and Comcast Corp. (CMCSA/NASDAQ) new life was breathed into vendors that stand to benefit from increased demand to deploy the technology around the world.
