Omnitronix SNMP-Link and PB1 improve WiMAX site reliability

Unplanned remote site downtime due to equipment and power failure, and adverse environmental conditions can severely impair networks. Omnitronix products monitor, access and control remote sites to ensure reliability, and reduce costs.

Monitor and Control
The Omnitronix SNMP-Link and PowerBoss One (PB1) enable administrators to monitor and control SNMP and non-SNMP-compliant equipment. Equipment failure can be detected and devices can be power-cycled to restore operation. In addition to making remote WiMAX sites more reliable, this reduces equipment costs, and consolidates management infrastructure.

If any device within a remote WiMAX site encounters problems, SNMP-Link sends alerts to the NOC. Similarly, SNMP-Link can send alerts in response to events such as, temperature, water, doors, voltage, etc.

SNMP-Link monitors environmental conditions and equipment via Sensors, Serial Ports, Contact Closures, and SNMP Traps. To ensure continuous uptime, SNMP-Link notifies administrators through email, SNMP Traps and other alarms, delivering 24/7 site management.omnitronixproduct

Access
If a microwave transceiver and Ethernet connection go down, the NOC is unable to communicate with that site. SNMP-Link has "out-of-band" capability for delivering alert messages, enabling the NOC to communicate with the site through a phone line with a dialup, or wireless modem. The SNMP-Link terminal server and PB1 power-cycling capabilities enable administrators to reboot devices within the remote cabinet. Additionally, custom scripting enables SNMP-Link to probe devices such as the microwave transceiver. If the microware transceiver fails to respond, SNMP-Link will automatically reboot it.

Omnitronix PB1 allows administrators to monitor power, such as low voltage, power surges, and power failures. By proactively monitoring batteries for low voltage, you can avoid significant loss of equipment and service by identifying problems before they become a crisis.

These capabilities ensure remote site reliability and save costs by eliminating the need to dispatch a truck for on-site service. Costs associated with network downtime can be very high, not to mention, customer dissatisfaction and loss of business.

Omnitronix brings remote site environmental conditions and equipment within reach of network administrators, by enabling proactive monitoring, access and control over distributed sites.
