Signs Collaboration MOU after securing supply contract valued at US$7.2m
Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, today formalized the beginning of a mutually beneficial business relationship with Augere Holdings (Augere) at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate for the common goal of delivering a superior broadband experience to customers through the sharing of knowledge and expertise on a long term basis.
The signing comes on the back of a supply agreement valued at US$7.2m which will see Greenpacket provide its UH Shuttle USB modems (Shuttle) to support Augere's broadband services operations in the South Asian region. Infused with state-of-the-art technologies such as high gain Omni antennas and high transmission power, the Shuttle modem boasts deeper indoor penetration for home use, and at the same time, its versatile and highly portable design makes it ideal for outdoor use.
Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket says at the signing event held at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, "We're very excited to be partnering with Augere to deliver broadband access in emerging economies as Greenpacket and Augere share a common vision, and that is to realize a future of wireless freedom and broadband for all. With Greenpacket's high performance modems, and the further signing of a collaboration MOU, we believe Augere would be able to provide a fast, game-changing wireless broadband experience to its end users."

Augere currently has access to spectrum in Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Uganda and Rwanda. Licenses are also being actively pursued in countries across Africa, South and South East Asia. Augere's robust deployment of wireless networks and pursuit of wireless spectrum licenses in fast emerging nations is driven by its mission to provide broadband Internet to 80 percent of the world's population where it is currently out of reach.
According to Alistair Johnston, Marketing Director of Augere Holdings, the real winners of the collaboration with Greenpacket are Qubee's network subscribers. He says, "Qubee believes in providing a great internet experience to its customers with the right product, a quality network and 24/7 customer service. We chose Greenpacket's Shuttle modem because of its high-gain antennas which gave impressive indoor and outdoor signal quality performance during testing."
In any part of the world, broadband is identified as a crucial enabler of socio-economic progress. More and more Operators, especially in emerging markets are favoring 4G wireless broadband technology. Lee says that WiMAX is a mature technology that not only deliver quick time-to-market; but also has available, a robust ecosystem that has and will continue to drive cost down to spur rapid adoption across the value chain and with the end-user. However, as a developer and with the rise of convergent models, Greenpacket continuously innovate across technologies to cater to the diverse needs of different markets for both its software solutions and devices."
With Greenpacket's strong R&D capabilities and network of quality contract manufacturers, along with the extensive LIVE network 'know-how' gained from Packet One Networks better known as P1 (Green Packet Berhad's subsidiary and global leading 4G WiMAX Operator); Greenpacket moved up the ranks to become one of the top three suppliers of WiMAX modems within the short period of a year. It now carries an extensive range of WiMAX modems that cater to both developed and emerging markets. These include indoor, outdoor and USB variants that supports 2.3, 2.5 and 3.5GHz frequencies.
