Azimuth Systems Inc., a leading provider of wireless channel emulators and broadband wireless test equipment, today announced that Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry (III) will be using the ACE™ MX MIMO channel emulator for WiMAX testing.
III's primary information and communication technology (ICT) research organization -- Networks and Multimedia Institute (NMI) -- will be using the ACE MX wireless channel emulator in its 2x2 bidirectional configuration for advanced testing of its WiMAX development and protocol analysis system. The ACE MX MIMO channel emulator's superior RF performance testing, ease-of-use, ease-of-configuration, and its scalability and flexibility, were important factors in III's decision to purchase the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator.
III was incorporated as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in 1979 to support the development/applications of the information industry and information society in Taiwan. Exploiting core ICT technologies, digital content and domain know-how, NMI develops innovative technologies, integrated systems, and advanced applications.
"In order to provide the best WiMAX development and protocol analysis platform for Taiwan's manufacturing customers, we chose the best platform to supply the precision and accuracy we require," Wen-Chien Hung, director, Wireless Technology Center, III. "Azimuth's ACE MX wireless channel emulator provides automated testing and accurate results, reducing the product test confirmation time and enhancing the customer confidence level."
A purpose-built, enhanced testing solution, the ACE MX wireless channel emulator is architected to meet the demanding needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems. The ACE MX MIMO channel emulator provides the advanced channel emulation features required for testing WiMAX, LTE and other advanced wireless infrastructure equipment and devices, and includes all of the backwards-compatible channel emulation features to test 2G/3G cellular products. The ACE MX wireless channel emulator also features dedicated bi-directional channel modeling that can accurately emulate real world wireless over-the-air conditions in both the downlink and uplink paths simultaneously.
"WiMAX presents special testing requirements, particularly on a research level," said Pete Paglia, vice president of sales and business development at Azimuth Systems. "III's adoption of the ACE MX MIMO wireless channel emulator validates Azimuth's leadership in not only product development, but in the research process that relies on our time-efficient, repeatable testing to ensure accurate results regardless of environment."
