Virtual Seminar Discription:

The practice oriented virtual seminar will encompass information on the rollout of a pan-regional WiMAX network in Central Europe, the concept standing behind it and experience gained during the last year of operations.

Central Europe is an increasingly interesting region, with strong economies, saturating mobile markets, low broadband penetration but with visible uptake due to service offerings from incumbent operators and first results of the market liberalization conducted on base of LLU or bitstream access.

What is the opportunity for WiMAX ? Will broadband wireless access constitute an offering acceptable for customers in this region?

Is it realistic to provide a service affordable on price and competitive compared to others ? What is the outlook for the future ?

In this session you will be able to gain understanding on the above mentioned aspects as well as hear practical tips from a company having its proof of concept already in place.
  • Insight into operations of Europe's first pan-regional WiMAX carrier
  • Specific of the Central and East European telecoms market
  • Network rollout concept and value of standarized technologies
  • Market strategy combining strengths with the most promising opportunities
  • Areas and visions for future growth
  • Practical description of a success story
  • Questions and answers to current WiMAX related issues

WiMAX Access Point Testing and Core Networks in an Uncertain Specifications Environment

Recorded Date: October 25th, 2006

Most of the focus on WiMAX so far has concerned the airlink. But what about the back part of the network, where the ASN Gateway and the CSN reside? How do you ensure that your core systems are ready for the stress of coordinating an entire WiMAX network?

From the cellular experience, it's clear that core systems are the nerve centers of the network. When the core isn't healthy, the entire network can crash. That's why it's so important to adequately test core systems that handle millions of data packets each day.

Mobile Metrics offers the first WiMAX test system expressly designed to test the ASN Gateway and CSN. The Torrent 7100 WTS (WiMAX Test System) exercises both traffic and conformance capabilities of these nodes. In addition, Mobile Metrics offers ASN Gateway, CSN and Mobile IP simulators, among others.

One of the challenges for vendors and developers is to deal with the uncertainty of the NWG specifications from the WiMAX Forum. While tremendous progress has been made to issue the 1.0 release of the specifications, more work remains to create the 1.5 and 2.0 versions of the specs. In the meantime, vendors and developers need to prepare their systems for interoperability testing in an arena where the specifications are still emerging.

Mobile Metrics will share not only its Third Generation testing strategies, but some of its experiences in working with vendors and developers to determine how to implement the specifications. This is a must-see seminar for those who are developing and marketing ASN Gateways and CSNs.

Who Should Attend?
  • Product verification managers and engineers - to learn about WiMAX core product testing issues and solutions
  • Design managers and engineers - to learn about specification interpretation issues and how to leverage commercial systems for easier lab simulation
  • System integrators - to get new ideas on testing integrated WiMAX systems

Virtual Seminar Description
  • The online seminar is divided into two pieces: a PowerPoint-based lecture to discuss concepts, and an illustration, using the Torrent 7100 WTS to demonstrate the concepts in practice.
Topics to cover include:
  • Why testing of core systems is so important.
  • Techniques for testing your core systems.
  • Issues in testing a system whose specification is still developing, including specific instances of specification interpretation that could affect your product.
  • Techniques for overcoming interoperability issues.
  • Demonstration of these concepts in a real R6 / R3 network.
About Mobile Metrics
