WiMAX Forum® Network Associate™ Certification Boot Camp
![]()
WiMAX Forum Professional Certification proves that you have the skills to design
or install WiMAX networks. Move your career ahead by distinguishing yourself in
the wireless industry with WiMAX Forum professional certification.

Course Description:
This course is a four-day Boot Camp event, which covers all of the necessary
topics to prepare a technical student to take the
WiMAX Forum Network Associate™ certification exam. The course is designed for
WiMAX technicians who require skills training to
install, configure, field-test, and commission a WiMAX network. For our hands-on
labs, we employ Aperto and Telsima base
stations and fixed subscriber stations as samples of WiMAX Forum Certified™
equipment, Anritsu multifunction field test set, and
WirelessLogix mobile drive test lab equipment. The emphasis is on the
installation, configuration, tuning, and basic trouble-shooting of
typical WiMAX networks. The course can be an excellent preparation for
vendor-specific training, or a great intro to WiMAX
best practices for any operator’s implementation.
Course length: 4 days

Course Outline:
Selected highlights of the hands-on labs where you will deploy, install,
configure, and test a WiMAX system,
including:
• Install a WiMAX base station site while emphasizing safety and best practices.
• Assemble the outdoor mounting apparatus to hold the Subscriber Station Outdoor
Unit.
• Connect AC, Data, and PoE cables before testing and aiming the ODU towards the
Base Station antenna.
• Use the Element Management System (EMS) application to add a new Subscriber
Station object to the Network Map.
• Apply the configuration settings needed to provide compliance with the
customer’s Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Use the Installation Manager application to determine the optimum placement
and orientation of the Subscriber Station.
• Measure the RF characteristics of various WiMAX signals, including RCE, EVM,
and CINR, using a precision quality signal analyzer.
• Use the analyzer’s Fixed WiMAX Demodulator Measurements mode to evaluate the
modulation quality of OFDM/OFDMA data bursts.
• Compare the recorded measurements to applicable specifications to determine
passing or failing values.
• Perform measurements for high-and low-CINR conditions.
• Make measurements with the analyzer directly connected to the WiMAX signal
source, via coaxial cable, and over-the-air, to simulate measurements that would
be frequently
• performed at the base station.
• Construct a customized pass/fail test which includes measurements and
pass/fail criteria that a technician might use for over-the-air (OTA) testing of
Fixed WiMAX base stations.
• Check the readings against pass/fail criteria included in a customized script
that you create.
• Conduct Mobile WiMAX Drive Tests
End of day 4: In-class Certification Testing Opportunity
At the end of the four-day boot camp, students will have the opportunity to
complete the proctored WiMAX Forum Network
Associate™ certification exam, which tests relevant knowledge and practical
installation skills.
Boot Camp practical experience:
The boot camp is structured as 30% tutorial content in ten chapters, and 70%
hands-on exercises in twelve labs, focused by an ongoing case
study. Through a special arrangement with Aperto, Telsima, Anritsu and
WirelessLogix, the DoceoTech Lab is equipped with base station,
subscriber station and field test equipment from multiple WiMAX-Forum member
companies, used for in-class exercises. You’ll have the
experience of installing and commissioning all of the equipment for a sample
WiMAX-served community.
